Writing bureau brought back from complete exhaustion
This gorgeous old writing bureau which belonged to our client’s father had been left to moulder in too damp a situation for far too long and the veneer was peeling off it. Apart from peeling veneer, the drawers were jammed, handles were off, and the general condition of the piece might have daunted someone with a lesser eye.
Our client obviously realised there was still a gem hidden under all the damage and asked us to re-attach the original veneer to keep the patterning in place (yes, it can be done), and bring it back to life. We fixed the veneer, got the drawers running smoothly again and then re-polished the whole piece.
The client loved it and we got a real kick out of doing it.
